(July 9, 2026) — Anna Barbara Anderson of 43 Saybrook Road in Higganum, passed away on June 20, 2026 while being treated for cardiac arrest at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She is survived by her son, William Anderson; her daughter Veronica Anderson; her partner, Gene Grenier, and nieces and grandchildren.
Anna was a loving parent and partner. She moved to Higganum just five years ago but loved the area and the people. She had recently retired from her position as Controller at UCFS Healthcare, ending a long career in finance. She joined the United Church of Higganum and Haddam and almost immediately made an impact by filling a vacancy in the broadcasting of services on the internet. She also joined Haddam Club 60 and was immediately recognized as a leader and recruited by the board to take over for the retiring president. As an active member of the Connecticut dance community specializing in swing, tango, and other dance styles, she traveled to South America and other distant locations for seminars and instruction. She also was a longtime board member of the Shoreline Swing group, which holds monthly dances with live music. In past years, she enjoyed boating with her family and motorcycling as a passenger. Although not a golfer, she loved to ride along in the golf cart and keep score. Any activity that required brain power was up her alley.
It goes without saying that she will be missed and remembered by all who knew her. Per her wishes, Anna was cremated. There will be a celebration of her life at the United Congregational Church of Haddam and Higganum on July 30, 2026.
