Haddam Board of Finance Sets Mil Rate for 2026-2027

Submitted by Marijean Conrad, Haddam Board of Finance

(June 13, 2026) — On June 11, 2026 the Haddam Board of Finance met and set the mil rate for the 2026-2027 fiscal year at 24.98. This was a 27% reduction from last year’s mil rate of 34.35. This significant reduction in the mil rate was possible due to the recent increase in the Grand List related to higher property assessments. The town’s Grand Total Budget remained fairly stable increasing overall by 4.58%.

How these changes might impact each individual home owner will vary. Those whose property assessment was greater than the average increase may pay more in taxes while those whose assessment increase was lower than the average may pay less. Information specific to each property will be made available after July 1, 2026 when the Tax Collector will issue tax bills for the coming year. For further information please contact either the Tax Assessor or the Tax Collector at the Haddam Town Office Building.
