Haddam Tax Collector Earns CCMC Designation

Submitted by Town of Haddam

(May 29, 2026) — The Town of Haddam is proud to congratulate our Tax Collector, Sheri Berger, on earning the prestigious Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector (CCMC) designation through the Tax Collectors Association of Connecticut.

This certification is a significant professional achievement that demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in municipal tax collection and public service. To earn the CCMC designation, candidates must complete a rigorous series of educational and professional requirements, including four intensive courses:

  • Class 1 – 7 weeks of coursework, followed by a final exam
  • Class 2 – 5 weeks of coursework, followed by a final exam
  • Class 3 – 8 weeks of coursework, followed by a final exam
  • Class 4 – 5 weeks of coursework, followed by a final exam

In addition to the above completion of all four sessions, Ms. Berger successfully passed a comprehensive three-hour written final examination. We are especially proud that Sheri passed this exam on her very first attempt. First Selectman Sean Donlan stated, “Ms. Berger obtaining her license early is not a surprise considering Haddam’s tax office is run so professionally and is well organized.  Sheri takes her duties as Haddam’s tax collector very seriously and works hard to ensure our residents are treated fairly and with respect.”

In addition to the coursework and final exam, candidates must also meet a requirement of three years of municipal tax collection experience. Ms. Berger was able to achieve certification eligibility before completing three years with the Town of Haddam by applying her prior municipal tax collection experience toward this requirement.

Earning the CCMC designation reflects dedication, perseverance, and a deep understanding of Connecticut municipal tax laws and procedures. This accomplishment enhances the level of expertise and service provided to the residents of Haddam.

Please join us in congratulating Tax Collector Sheri Berger on this outstanding achievement and thanking her for her continued commitment to serving our community. Her dedication and professionalism make her an immeasurable asset to our town government.
