Liberty Bank Expands Assistance with HSA’s from Access Health CT

Submitted by Amanda Falcone, Liberty Bank

(April 24, 2026) — In Connecticut, individuals covered by a bronze or catastrophic health insurance plan purchased through the state’s health insurance marketplace (Access Health CT) can now open a Health Savings Account (HSA) due to a recent change in federal law. This amounts to real savings for the consumer, and it’s how Liberty Bank can help individuals who do not have access to employer-sponsored health insurance plans.

“Both your health and your financial wellness are so important,” said Matt Cammarota, Executive Vice President and the lead for Liberty’s HSA business line. “Liberty is always looking for new opportunities to help people, and this is one of those moments, a chance to offer a product that helps customers save money.”

Liberty Bank has offered HSA options to eligible individuals since 2016. However, with the recent federal law change, the option is now available to more people, and Liberty wants to ensure that Access Health participants know the option is available to them, regardless of whether they choose to open an account with Liberty.

“HSA’s allow you to save for most health care expenses in a tax-advantaged way,” Cammarota said. “You can use an HSA to help pay your medical bills. Deposits to your HSA can be deducted on your income tax return, and you can withdraw your funds tax-free to pay for eligible health care expenses. Any funds you don’t use will grow tax-free over time.”

Liberty Bank’s HSA checking account has no minimum balance or annual or monthly fees and comes with a free HSA debit card. The bank also offers six-month and one-year HSA CD options, which require a small minimum balance. For more information about Liberty Bank’s HSA accounts, visit www.liberty-bank.com.
