(April 15, 2026) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Lacrosse team dominated in their first game against 2025 Shoreline Conference Runners-Up Old Saybrook on April 9, 2026.
The Cougars maintained excellent ball control at the offensive side of the field with confident and clean play execution. Old Saybrook put up a good defense, with some well executed shot blocks and saves, but in the end was outmatched. When game play did move down to the HKHS goal, the Cougars defense was quick to shut it down and regain control.

Some notable points in the game: In the first half, during the face-off by Senior Josh Frith, the ball was kicked downfield, chased down by Senior Finn O’Hanlon, kicked back and recovered as a ground ball by Junior Kody Lehet, who drove it down the field for an unassisted goal.
Recovery of ground balls and pass interceptions were a common theme in the game for the Cougars. With only minutes left in the second quarter, Senior Spencer Savoy knocked down the ball for a pass interception, recovered the ground ball, ran down the field to pass to Senior John Moyer who passed to Kody Lehet who launched the ball with a low corner shot to score. The passing and play movement is what stood out for the HKHS in this game, and by the fourth quarter, the Cougars were showing their flair with some fancy plays, such as a behind-the-back pass from John Moyer to Kody Lehet for an assist to Ethan Pitts, who made the shot to score.
The team’s next game is scheduled for April 18, 2026 at home against Granby.
