Application Deadline Approaches for Haddam Neck Fair Scholarships

Submitted by Jackie MacKnight

(April 15, 2026) — The deadline to apply for the Haddam Neck Fair’s annual scholarships is quickly approaching, with applications due to be submitted or postmarked by May 1, 2026.

Each year, the Association awards scholarships to Connecticut students who have dedicated their time as volunteers at the Haddam Neck Fair. Open to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in college or trade school programs, the scholarships recognize those who have played a role in supporting one of the region’s most enduring community traditions.

“Our Fair has always been powered by volunteers,” said Jackie MacKnight, a Director with the Haddam Neck Fair Association. “These scholarships are a way for us to recognize the students who give their time, show up year after year, and truly embody what community is all about.”

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a high school senior or currently enrolled in an accredited higher education or trade program
  • Must have volunteered at the Haddam Neck Fair, with priority given to those with sustained involvement
  • Must demonstrate school and community engagement

Application Requirements:

  • A completed application form
  • A list of volunteer contributions to the Fair
  • An essay of 500 words or less reflecting on how their volunteer experience has impacted their personal growth and understanding of community
  • Proof of acceptance or enrollment in an accredited institution
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or community leader

Completed applications may be submitted digitally or mailed to:
Haddam Neck Fair Association

The May 1, 2026 deadline is firm, and students are encouraged to apply early. The scholarship program reflects the Fair Association’s ongoing commitment to investing in the next generation while honoring the spirit of volunteerism that has sustained the Fair for more than 110 years.

While the focus right now is on supporting students, planning is also underway for the Haddam Neck Fair, returning Labor Day Weekend 2026. The Fair continues to be a cornerstone event for the community, bringing together agriculture, entertainment and family traditions that span generations.
