(April 13, 2026) — In recognition of Earth Day 2026 and Lions International’s Environmental Week of Service, residents of Killingworth are invited to roll up their sleeves and make a difference at the upcoming Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Everyone’s welcome!
The event will be centered just outside the Killingworth Transfer Station at Recycle Way, where volunteers can gather supplies and connect with fellow community members before heading out to help beautify local roadways, parks and shared spaces. The Killingworth Lions will provide gloves, sturdy trash bags, beverages and snacks to ensure participants have everything they need for a safe and productive morning. Lions volunteers can also assist participants with getting filled bags into the Compactor site as they arrive.

Adding to the spirit of service, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will again be actively participating, and demonstrating their commitment to community stewardship and environmental responsibility. Their involvement highlights the importance of engaging youth in meaningful service projects that foster pride in their hometown.
“This is a great opportunity for neighbors to come together, meet one another, and take collective action to keep Killingworth clean and welcoming,” said Lions President Dave Beaudette. “Even a few hours of volunteering can have a lasting impact.”
Community members of all ages are encouraged to join, whether individually, with family, or as part of a group. Participants are advised to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor work.
The Cleanup Day not only aims to improve the town’s appearance, but also to strengthen community bonds and inspire ongoing efforts to care for the environment. For those looking to give back and enjoy a morning of teamwork and fresh air, Cleanup Day promises to be a rewarding and impactful event. This year’s Community Cleanup Day also connects to the global celebration of Earth Day and is part of Lions International’s Environmental “Week of Service” (April 18–26). Through Lions Clubs International and the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), Lions around the world are mobilizing to protect the environment, promote sustainability, and strengthen communities. The Killingworth event reflects this broader mission—bringing local action to a global movement of service dedicated to caring for our planet.
Please Note: This event will proceed unless there is heavy rain. It has no scheduled rain date.
