Top State Officials Join Celebration of Spring in Higganum

(April 3, 2026) — April is daffodil season in Connecticut, and the celebration began in a very big way in Higganum recently, with a visit to town by several top state officials, including the Lt. Governor and State Agriculture Commissioner.

On April 2, 2026 this group of Connecticut dignitaries, decision-makers and action-takers met at Halfinger Farms Dancing Daffodils in Higganum to officially open daffodil season 2026. Daffodils are the ambassadors of Spring, and of the pick-your-own season.

A ribbon cutting was held marking the start of the season, and to celebrate all of the wonderful pick-your-own options that are about to become available this year through out our state. While at the farm, the group cheered on as the Halfinger’s new streetside sign was unveiled (photo above).

Afterward, the group went onto the greenhouses and watched the farm’s new hanging basket production system weigh and water a crop of hanging baskets. The most important realization that came from the meeting was how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful part of the state that offers so many options for outdoor recreation and Connecticut-Grown products.
