Haddam Senior Center Hosts “Golden Transitions” Program

Submitted by Tanya Bottaro

(March 7, 2026) — A free educational seminar on aging-in-place, downsizing options, home safety, and future planning will be held on Friday, March 20 at 12:30 p.m. at the Haddam Senior Center.

Local residents are invited to attend this “Golden Transitions” presentation designed to help older adults and their families navigate the many decisions that can come with later-life transitions. This event will feature a relaxed and informative conversation focused on helping attendees explore options for planning ahead and making thoughtful decisions about their future living situations.

The seminar will cover a range of topics including aging-in-place and rightsizing options, home safety tips and simple modifications, financial tools and resources, and estate planning basics. The goal is to provide practical information that helps individuals and families feel more confident and prepared as they consider next steps for the years ahead.

Golden Transitions will also feature a panel of trusted local professionals who will share insights from their respective fields and answer questions from attendees. Panel members include Debbie Huscher, Senior Real Estate Specialist; Tanya Bottaro, Realtor; Dave Beckman, mortgage professional; Marc D’Orvilliers, home safety handyman; and Kristen Prout, elder law and estate planning attorney.

This educational event is designed to provide helpful information in a welcoming setting. There are no sales and no obligation — just trusted information, open conversation, and time for questions. Community members are encouraged to attend and are welcome to bring a friend.

To reserve a spot, please contact Doreen Staskelunas at the Haddam Senior Center by emailing seniors@haddam.org or calling 860-345-2480 to confirm attendance. Any additional questions can be directed to Tanya Bottaro at tanyabottaro@comcast.net or 203-687-7194.
