(February 17, 2026) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team secured its lucky number 13th win on Friday the 13th.  The Cougars defeated their Route 81 rivals, the Morgan Huskies 70-63 on Senior Night. All five starting Seniors contributed to the win.

It has been a great season for the Cougars, led by Senior co-captains Declan Moriarty and Jay Evans. Moriarty’s play remains consistent and calculated while Evans continues to push the envelope with explosive drive and determination. Spencer Savoy has evolved from a Sophomore sensation to a Senior powerhouse, consistently pulling down rebounds and muscling his way to the basket. Senior Ethan Pitts has evolved into a steady, consistent, and reliable teammate. Senior Pearce Goodison may be new to the Cougars but it feels as though he’s been a teammate from the beginning as he demonstrates constant hustle and fluid play.

The team was led by Junior Mason Eighmy, who had 15 points and 6 rebounds, followed by Savoy with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Junior Kody Lehet led the team in rebounds with 7 while scoring 11 points.  Junior Brody Ferguson had 12 points and 3 rebounds. Moriarty had 10 points, 2 steals and 4 assists while Evans had 7 points and 2 steals, and Goodison pitched in with 2 points. Pitts had a key assist early in the game, which helped the Cougars take a lead they would not relinquish.

Next up for the Cougars, Valley Regional on February 17, 2026. JV at 5:30 p.m., Varsity at 7:00 p.m., and a Granby make-up game on February 20, 2026, JV at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity at 7:00 p.m. See you on the Court.
