Literacy Volunteers Seeks Tutors for Training Sessions

Submitted by Joanne Argersinger

(February 13, 2026) — Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore is now accepting applications for our Spring 2026 Tutor Training Workshop. No experience is needed for this enriching experience, only a desire to have fun, learn another culture and help someone in our
community!

Through our twelve-hour program, conducted over eight sessions, individuals learn how to teach English to adult residents from around the world who want to learn or improve their English language skills. Potential tutors choose either morning sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or evening sessions from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The morning sessions are held in person at our office in the Westbrook Library; the evening sessions are a hybrid of in person and virtual via Zoom.

The next training workshop is on the following dates April 9,14,16,21,28, 2026 and May 7,12,14, 2026. We also have an online, self-facilitated training option available for those unable to attend these workshops but who would still like to be trained as an LVVS tutor. We ask for a $40 donation for the training materials provided.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, you can fill out an application on our website www.lvvs.org. If you would like more information, please contact the Literacy Volunteers office at (860) 399-0280 or by e-mail at jargersinger@lvvs.org
