(January 26, 2026) — On January 23, 2026, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team fell to the reigning Shoreline Champion Lyme/Old Lyme Wildcats 59 – 50. The Cougars outpaced and outplayed the Wildcats for the first two quarters and led 28 – 25 at the half.  Solid play and rebounding by Juniors Brody Ferguson, Kody Lehet, and Noah Marica, along with Senior co-captains Declan Moriarty and Jay Evans, put the Cougars in a position to win.

HKHS was up by 10 when the Wildcats rallied late in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 22 – 13. The game was still close in the fourth, though with less than 2 minutes to go, the Cougars were unable to pull out the win. Ferguson led the team with 11 points followed by Evans with 10, Moriarty with 9 and Lehet with 7. Senior powerhouse Spencer Savoy pulled down 2 rebounds and contributed 6 points. Marica had 4 points and junior Mason Eighmy had 3 and an impressive block on defense. Moriarty’s 3 steals and Ferguson’s and Evans’ drives in the lane matched the physicality of the Wildcats but in the end, HKHS came up short. It was a hard-fought game.

The Cougars will look to hone their play as the team heads into the latter half of the season. The Cougars are now 8-3 on the season and will face the Westbrook Knights on January 27, 2026 in a Varsity-only game starting at at 5:30 p.m. See you on the Court.
