Boys Basketball 2026: HKHS Defeats Route 81 Rival Morgan, 57 – 47

(January 7, 2026) — On January 6, 2026, the Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys basketball team defeated Route 81 rival Morgan of Clinton 57-47 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Cougars were led by Junior Mason Eighmy with a career-high 18 points including four 3-pointers and 3 steals. Senior co-captain Declan Moriarty contributed 16 points while Senior co-captain Jay Evans chipped in 10 with 5 steals and 2 assists. The game was close with the Huskies leading at the half. A 22-point third quarter surge with major contributions from Moriarty and Evans put the Cougars ahead and the team never looked back.

Other key performers included Junior Noah Marica with 7 rebounds, 3 monumental blocks and 2 assists and Junior Kody Lehet who continued to excel under the boards also pulling down 7 rebounds. Junior Brody Ferguson scored early, contributing 9 points with 2 rebounds. A team effort all around, the Cougars continued to showcase their second half play to secure the win. Next up the Cougars face Valley Regional at home on January 9, 2026 JV at 5:30 pm., Varsity at 7:00 p.m.. See you on the court.
