Editor’s Note: HK-Now.com and Haddam Killingworth News asked the candidates for Town Clerk in Haddam and Killingworth to provide brief biographies as a way of introducing themselves to voters. The statement below is from Killingworth Town Clerk Dawn Rees Mooney, who is running for re-election. The candidate’s reply is unchanged from the original as submitted. My name is Dawn Rees Mooney and I am running for re-election as Killingworth Town Clerk.  I served as Assistant Town Clerk from 2008-2015, and as Town Clerk since then.  During this time, I have strived to maintain, preserve and provide access to Killingworth’s records, safeguard election processes and adhere to the highest standards of professionalism.

My qualifications make me well-suited to serve as Town Clerk.  I hold a BA from Connecticut College, and earned Connecticut Town Clerk, Master Connecticut Town Clerk and Connecticut Municipal Officer Certifications.  A member of the Connecticut Town Clerks Association since 2008, I served as its Secretary and Executive Board member from 2017-2021. I also belong to the New England Association of City and Town Clerks and the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities.  Additionally, I have served as Killingworth Deputy Town Treasurer since 2009, on the Health & Safety Committee from 2014-2015 and am a member of Killingworth’s Historical Society.  A 33-year taxpayer, I raised my three children in our wonderful town and understand the importance of fiscal responsibility and small-town governance.

I am honored to serve as Killingworth’s Town Clerk.  Please vote for me in November to continue my tradition of accuracy, efficiency and outstanding service.  Thank you!
