Election 2025: RSD 17 Board of Education Candidate Ben Sodergren (Killingworth)

Editor’s Note: HK-Now.com and Haddam Killingworth News asked candidates for the Regional School District 17 Board of Education to provide brief biographies as a way of introducing themselves to voters. The statement below is from Ben Sodergren, who is running for BOE from Killingworth. The candidate’s reply is unchanged from the original as submitted. HK-Now.com and Haddam Killingworth News are not responsible for errors in grammar, usage, punctuation or spelling.

Ben Sodergren is running for a seat on the Haddam-Killingworth Board of Education. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Forensics from Champlain College, and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. He has been the director of the Killingworth Library since 2022.

Ben grew up in Killingworth and attended RSD17 schools, so he knows our schools well, and he knows the value of a strong public education system. In his experience as a library director, he knows that success comes from hiring the right people and giving them the space and the resources they need to do their jobs well. Our schools are gifted with incredible teachers and administrators, and Ben hopes to listen to their needs and enable them to continue serving our community to the best of their abilities.

Ben is excited to bring his technical knowledge and his library background to the Board. He’s well aware of emerging technological trends that have the potential to disrupt traditional education, and he hopes to work with teachers and administration to craft policy solutions to today’s unique problems.
