Middlesex Chamber Hosts Seminar on Addiction and Employment

(October 13, 2025) — Chairwoman Pam Steele of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Middlesex Chamber will once again host a free informational addiction seminar titled, “The Employer’s Guide to Second Chance Hiring.

This seminar, presented by the Middlesex Chamber’s Recovery Employment Program (REP), Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council (MCSAAC) and the Connecticut Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (DMHAS) will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott, 4 Sebethe Drive in Cromwell. There is no cost to attend.

Join us for an interactive workshop focused on second chance hiring and the benefits it can bring to your business. Participants will gain practical strategies for recruiting, retaining, and supporting employees in need of a “second chance.” Each attendee also will receive a comprehensive Employer Toolkit designed to help organizations confidently implement second chance hiring practices and build a stronger, more inclusive workforce.

Presenters include: Charles Botts, Workforce Development Coordinator, State of Connecticut; Mark Soyer, Retired Legal Counsel, CBIA; Dr. Heidi Hughes, Central Connecticut State University.
