Election 2025: Killingworth Selectman Candidate Eric Nunes

Editor’s Note: HK-Now.com and Haddam Killingworth News asked the candidates for Board of Selectmen in Haddam and Killingworth to submit brief biographies as a way of introducing themselves to voters. Below is the response from Killingworth Selectman Eric Nunes, who is running for re-election. The candidate’s reply is unchanged from the original as submitted. I am honored to be a candidate for re-election as Selectman here in Killingworth. Over the past two years, I have served as your Republican Selectman, working with residents and colleagues to strengthen our community while keeping fiscal responsibility at the forefront. My leadership style is practical and collaborative, grounded in listening first, weighing all perspectives, and making thoughtful decisions that prioritize Killingworth’s long-term well-being.

My background spans academic science and public service. I have led diverse teams, managed multimillion-dollar grant projects, and published extensively in the fields of neuroscience and psychiatry. I bring the same attention to detail, evidence-based thinking, and team-building skills to town government.

Beyond work, my heart is in community service. As past president of the Killingworth Lions Club, I have helped lead fundraisers that supported programs for local families, students, and organizations. I am also a member of the Knights of Columbus and worship with neighbors at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

I believe politics, at its best, is the highest form of charity. I am humbled and honored to serve in this role, working to preserve what makes Killingworth special: our small-town character, civic spirit, and the sense of community that unites us.
