(September 20, 2025) — On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the United Congregational Church of Haddam and Higganum (UCCHH) will hold a Blessing of the Animals event at their Haddam Campus, located at 905 Saybrook Road in Haddam.
Many of us have pets. Their well-being is central to our well-being. For some of us, our pets are our closest family. They are the ones who nudge us to wake and greet us when we come home. This ceremony is held to celebrate the importance of our pets in our lives, and to express our hopes and prayers for their thriving health and happiness.

The Blessing of Animals is a tradition that honors the connection between humans and animals, often associated with St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. This practice typically involves a ceremonial blessing in churches or community events, where pets and livestock are blessed to promote their well-being and acknowledge their importance in human life.
UCCHH is offering a drive-through venue, allowing both pets and owners to remain safely in their vehicles. This format ensures a safe and personalized experience with opportunities for individualized prayers upon request. Directional arrows will show where to enter and exit the church grounds.
