Killingworth Students Join Constitution Day Event in Guilford September 17th

Submitted by League of Women Voters, East Shore

(September 15, 2025) — September 17, 2025 will mark the United States Constitution’s 237th anniversary. On that day, students from Killingworth and other shoreline towns will be front and center in a public reading of the entire document. Come hear the youth of our community bring new life to the words that continue to guide our democracy. State Senator Christine Cohen will be our special guest.

The document may be centuries old, but its words remain as important today as when the authors first put pen to parchment. “When the Constitution begins with ‘We the people,’ it reminds us that civic engagement belongs to all of us, the young and old alike,” said Cohen. “I am thrilled to join students from across the shoreline in celebrating our Constitution and the foundation of our democracy.”

Students from Killingworth, Branford, North Branford, Guilford and Madison have been chosen to read the entire Constitution. The Constitution Day celebration will be held on September 17, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Guilford Free Library. Light refreshments and a free pocket-sized version of the Constitution are included in the day’s activity. This event is free and open to all.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization that has been promoting voting rights and active participation in government for more than a century. The local East Shore chapter includes Guilford, Madison, Branford, North Branford, and Killingworth. For more information, email eastshoreleague@yahoo.com.
