(August 8, 2025) — A beloved tradition returns this month as the Haddam Neck Fair once again kicks off its final day with the 5K Road Race—a scenic, spirited event that invites runners and walkers of all ages to take part in a “run to remember.” Now in its 113th year, the Haddam Neck Fair continues to celebrate community, heritage and healthy fun, and the 5K is one of its most cherished highlights.
The 2025 race will take place on Sunday, August 31 at 9:30 a.m., beginning and ending at the fairgrounds. Participants can look forward to a beautifully rural course that winds through Haddam Neck’s rolling countryside. The 5K features relatively flat stretches, two gentle declines, and one short but steep climb. The race is USATF certified, USATF sanctioned and insured, and will be professionally timed by Platt Systems, ensuring an accurate and reliable experience for every participant.

All finishers will receive a commemorative medal, and top runners in multiple age categories will be recognized with awards. Those who pre-register by August 15, 2025 will receive a free race tee shirt. Entrants who register between August 15, 2025 and August 25, 2025 can take advantage of a discounted fee but will not receive a shirt. A limited number of tee shirts also will be available for purchase on race day.
This year’s entry fees are $18 for pre-registered runners and $20 for day-of registrants. Seniors age 65 and over may register for $13 in advance or $15 on race day. Online sign-up fees may apply. Runners are encouraged to register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/CT/EastHampton/HaddamNeckFair5K or submit a mail-in application by August 25, 2025 to: Road Race c/o Margaret McCutcheon Faber, P.O. Box 326, Middle Haddam, CT 06456. Checks should be made payable to the Haddam Neck Fair Association Fairgrounds.
Not only does the 5K provide a wonderful way to get moving and connect with others, but it also includes free fair admission for all registered participants on the day of the race. After crossing the finish line, runners and their families are invited to stay and enjoy everything the Haddam Neck Fair has to offer—delicious food, agricultural exhibits, rides, live entertainment, and the ever-popular Street Stock Truck Pulls.
