 Submitted by Oddfellows Playhouse

(June 9, 2025) — Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater in Middletown has announced its Summer Sessions for 2025. Participants will dive into the magical world of theater, honing their acting and stage movement skills under the guidance of instructors Dan Schmidt and Mo Andres. Each five-day session includes snacks, supervised recreation, theater games and activities, with a focus on participation in rehearsals and performances.

SESSION 1 – August 11, 2025 to August 15, 2025, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (for students ages 6 to 12) culminates in a mini-production of The Lorax at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025. Based on Dr. Seuss’s 1971 classic tale, The Lorax chronicles the plight of the environment and the Lorax who “speaks for the trees” and confronts the Once-ler, a business magnate who causes environmental destruction.

SESSION 2 – August 18, 2025 to August 22, 2025,  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (for students ages 8 to 14) culminates in a mini-production of The Jātaka Tales at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025. Adapted from lesson-based stories (similar to Aesop’s Fables), The Jātaka Tales animate the historical Buddha’s recollections of his past lives as he journeyed on a bumpy road toward enlightenment. In these stories – which feature animals as the central characters – the Buddha shares how he overcame challenges in creative, humorous and sometimes mischievous ways.

Enrollment is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Financial Aid is available for all who need it.  To register for either session or both, please visit https://oddfellows.recdesk.com/Community/Program.
