(May 28, 2025) — The Killingworth Women’s Organization has earned major recognition from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Connecticut, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs International. At Connecticut’s annual conference, KWO took home seven state awards for its outstanding programs and community outreach over the past year.
Competing in the “Large Clubs” category, KWO’s initiatives were honored for excellence across a wide range of focus areas—from civic engagement and education to public relations and wellness—highlighting the group’s deep impact in Killingworth and beyond.
Award highlights include:
- 🥇 1st Place – Civic Engagement & Outreach
All Things Killingworth Town Picnic
Recognized for organizing a vibrant town-wide event that brought the community together and raised funds for scholarships and local causes. - 🥇 1st Place – Education & Libraries
Healthy Aging Education Series
Awarded for developing and presenting a five-part public education series on healthy aging. - 🥇 1st Place – Health & Wellness
Helping Hands Food Pantry
Honored for sustained support of food insecurity initiatives in Killingworth and the region. - 🥇 1st Place – Public Relations & Awareness
All Things Killingworth and KWO Website
Celebrated for creative and effective outreach that connects and informs the community. - 🥈 2nd Place – Domestic & Sexual Violence Awareness & Prevention
Community Outreach at the Town Picnic
Recognized for distributing positivity bags to children and raising awareness with town-wide signage. - 🥈 2nd Place – Environment
Earth Day Celebrations
Awarded for engaging the community in environmental awareness and sustainability through local events. - 🥈 2nd Place – Leadership
