RSD 17 Seeks Public Input for Superintendent Search

Submitted by Jennifer Favalora, Vice Chair, RSD 17 Board of Education

(May 24, 2025) — The Regional School District 17 Board of Education is pleased to announce that we have begun the process of seeking stakeholder input on the characteristics and attributes you believe are needed in a successful Superintendent of Schools.

CES (Connecticut Education Services) will facilitate focus groups and distribute a community survey to collect and compile data and provide the Board of Education with a leadership profile for a new Superintendent. CES’s Executive Searches division has been successful in helping many districts identify and hire highly qualified superintendents throughout Connecticut. Dr. Charles Dumais and David Erwin will be leading the work at CES.

There are two ways to get involved and provide your input:

Participate in a Virtual Focus Group

CES will host several virtual focus groups to gather more in-depth information. We hope you’ll take a few minutes to share your thoughts with the consultants.

Parent Sessions:

  • Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 8:45 a.m.

 Community Session:

  • Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 6:15 p.m.

 Complete the Community Survey

All Haddam and Killingworth residents are encouraged to participate in this Survey.

You can find more information related to the search, including Zoom and Community Survey links, on the RSD 17 Board of Education website at: https://www.rsd17.org/district/superintendent-search

We value your voice in this important process and encourage you to participate in the survey and focus groups to help shape the future leadership of our District. Your input will directly inform the leadership profile used in the search and help ensure we find a candidate who aligns with the values of our community.
