Haddam Sustainability Committee Survey on Expanding Food Scrap Program

Submitted by Town of Haddam

(May 23, 2025) — The Haddam Sustainability Committee is considering expanding the Food Scraps Diversion Program. The program began in December of 2021 and since then, Haddam has removed 173,555 pounds or 86.8 tons of food scraps from the town’s Municipal Solid Waste.

Currently, the Transfer Station is the only collection area. All residents are able to participate, however they are restricted to the hours the Transfer Station is open. If the program is expanded, a collection area would be located in a central area that was open to the public twenty-four hours a day. Please let the committee know your thoughts by taking the survey attached.
