Haddam Sustainability Committee Hosts “Safe Shredding Day” May 17th

Submitted by Kristin Battistoni

(May 3, 2025) — The Haddam Sustainability Committee will be holding its fifth annual shredding event on May 17, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. We will once again be using the parking area at the former Haddam Elementary School, 272 Saybrook Road in Higganum. This is a drive-through event, so you don’t even have to get out of your car!

This event has gained in popularity over the years as a safe and secure way to dispose of private papers. Watch them being shredded right in front of you. Paper clips and staples are accepted; plastic binders are not.

A $5.00 per box donation is suggested. The truck is sponsored by the Haddam Sustainability Committee, but all money raised goes directly to Haddam Social Services. Last year we raised $1,388. In addition to raising money for a great cause, we recycled more than two and a half tons of material.

All questions can be directed to HaddamSustainabilityCommittee@gmail.com or call Kristin Battistoni at 860-345-5831 ext. 206.
