Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords Present Spring Concert May 3rd

Submitted by Kate Porch

(April 27, 2025) — Please mark your calendars as the Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords celebrate thirty-five years of lifting spirits and healing souls. We will present our “Spring Musical Celebration” on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Portland High School, 95 High Street in Portland.

We invite you to join us for an evening of music featuring our ninety-voice chorus and ten-piece orchestra performing a selection of musical favorites that capture the essence of the Spring season.

Our Music Director, Samuel Tucker, has curated an eclectic program showcasing the diverse talents of our chorus. The repertoire includes patriotic arrangements such as “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “America the Beautiful,” along with timeless classics like “Shenandoah,” Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.” Additionally, the program will feature contemporary selections, including “Moondance,” and “Yacht Rock,” a medley of smooth songs from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Under the accompaniment of Alan Dougherty and his orchestra, the performance promises to be engaging, with the potential for audience toe-tapping and sing-alongs.

Proceeds from the concert fund scholarships for Middlesex County high school seniors pursuing careers in music or nursing. To date, we have awarded $89,000, excluding the scholarships that will be presented at this Spring concert. We sincerely thank Middlesex Health and our loyal supporters.

Tickets are $25. Call 860-347-2787 or 860-342-3120 for tickets, or visit www.vocalchords20.org. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
