(April 8, 2025) — The Killingworth Committee on Aging will be hosting a free session to help the community learn more about scams targeted at seniors. The program will be held at the Killingworth Library Conference Room on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon.
The program will be presented by Don Phillips, an attorney at the Connecticut Statewide Legal Services Pro Bono Clinic. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer discussion where attendees are encouraged to share their personal experiences with fraud and scams.
Topics will include:
- Specific scams aimed at elderly individuals.
- Reasons scammers target seniors
- Importance of reporting suspicious calls, emails and other potential attempts to steal your money
- Importance of protecting personal and financial information
- How to identify suspicious calls and emails
- Tips on what to do if you become the victim of a scam.
