Haddam Neck Fair Accepting Applications for College Scholarships

(February 21, 2025) — The Haddam Neck Fair Association has announced the opening of applications for its annual scholarship program. This year, the Association will award two $1,000 scholarships to deserving Connecticut students who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the success of the Haddam Neck Fair through their volunteer efforts.

The scholarship is open to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education, including colleges, universities, and trade schools. Applicants must have been active volunteers with the Haddam Neck Fair, contributing their time and skills to the event over the years.

“This scholarship is our way of recognizing the dedication and hard work of the many young volunteers who help make the Haddam Neck Fair such a beloved tradition,” said Jackie MacKnight, a Director with the Haddam Neck Fair Association. “By investing in their futures, we’re also investing in the future of our community.”

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a high school senior or currently enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education.

  • Be accepted to or matriculated in an accredited college, university, or trade school.

  • Have volunteered with the Haddam Neck Fair, with an emphasis on sustained participation in fair activities or summer work nights.

  • Demonstrate involvement in school and community activities.

How to Apply:

Applicants must complete an application form and include:

  1. A list of their volunteer contributions to the Fair over the years.

  2. An essay (500 words or less) reflecting on how their volunteer experience with the Haddam Neck Fair has influenced their growth and understanding of community.

  3. Proof of acceptance or enrollment in an accredited institution of higher education.

  4. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or community leader.
