(February 18, 2025) — The Connecticut Department of Transportation advises the following construction activities will take place at the Haddam/East Haddam Swing Bridge (Route 82) during the week of February 18, 2025:
Overnight Bridge Closures
Overnight bridge closures have been scheduled for:
- Tuesday, February 18, 2025
- Wednesday, February 19, 2025
The bridge will close at 7:00 p.m. on each of these evenings and reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
Inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances could impact these scheduled closures, any changes will be communicated.
Daytime Lane Closures
- Single lane closures on Route 82 will occur from Tuesday, February 18, 2025 through Friday, February 21, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. within the project limits. Traffic flaggers will coordinate the alternating traffic sequence.
- Both lanes will be reopened and operational during peak traffic hours.
Marine Advisory
Boaters are advised that as of February 15, 2025, the bridge was scheduled to resume openings for tall recreational vessels.
Mariners are advised that the contractor’s suspended scaffold has been removed from Spans 3 and 4, the contractor still has scaffolding hung in Span 2.
The tide clearance board is recommended as the best reference for gauging clearance at time of passage. The board is located on the bulkhead at Goodspeed, and has been set to indicate the vertical clearance to the contractor’s suspended scaffold.
