Boys Basketball 2025: HKHS Falls to the Panthers

By Ava McCullough

(February 11, 2025) — On January 31, 2025, the Haddam Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team dropped to 6-8 on the season with a 56 – 43 loss to the Cromwell Panthers. The score does not reflect the effort put forth by the Cougars or the closeness of the game.

HKHS surged in the third quarter with a quarter-ending three-pointer by senior Andrew Crayton to bring the score to within two. Solid defense by seniors Jake McKenzie and Joe Slane, along with four critical steals by junior Declan Moriarty, helped to keep the game within reach; however, in the end the Cougars could not sustain the momentum.

HKHS was led by seniors Cody Robinson and Andrew Crayton with 11 points each followed by juniors Declan Moriarty (10), Jay Evans (7), and Spencer Savoy (4). Mc Kenzie and Slane led in rebounding while Crayton demonstrated strong defense with 2 blocks. The Cougars look to rebound on Saturday February 1, 2025 against Wheeler in North Stonington. JV at 2:00 p.m., Varsity at 3:30 p.m. See you on the Court.
