(January 20, 2025) — The regular meeting of Haddam’s Board of Selectmen on January 13, 2025, was called to order by First Selectman Robert McGarry at 6:31 p.m. at the Old Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive, Haddam. Selectmen Kate Anderson and Peter Baird were present.
First Selectman McGarry provided the following updates:
Regarding Scovil Hoe, the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities granted the exemptions for the clean-up contractors. There was a pre-construction walk-through on January 16, 2025. The project is still awaiting final approval from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
There will be a meeting with the six towns using the Essex Transfer Station to decide how to proceed after the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority stops operations on June 30, 2025.
Selectman Anderson thanked the Public Works Department for putting up the holiday decorations in Tylerville and Higganum.
Selectman Baird shared that the Higganum Cove Preserve Committee gave a tour of the Cove to newly-elected State Representative Renee LaMark Muir on January 16, 2025.
Selectman Anderson made a motion to approve the December 2024 Tax Refunds in the amount of $4,974.13. The motion carried.
Selectman Baird made a motion to approve the second round of payments for the Tylerville Business Interruption Loan Program, totaling $84,991.11. The motion carried.
Town Planner Bill Warner presented the Zoning Fines Ordinance to the Board.
There will be budget meetings on January 21, 2025 and January 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. and on January 27, 2025 and January 30, 2025 at 12:00 Noon.
The next regular Board of Selectmen meeting is scheduled for February 10, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., at the Old Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive, Haddam.
