Letter to the Editor: In Support of Muir for State Representative

I am writing in support of Renee LaMark Muir for State Representative in Essex, Deep River, Chester and Haddam.  As a retired nurse who worked with women over many decades, I am deeply concerned with recent policies that have had a devastating impact on women’s healthcare.

The reversal of Roe v. Wade has created a loss of freedom for women to make their own choices.  The rulings are not just about abortion, but also women’s healthcare, and the government should not be involved in personal medical decisions.  While we have passed legislation in Connecticut to protect women’s healthcare and the right to choose, it is essential that we have representation to ensure our rights are protected.

It disturbs me when local candidates refuse to have a conversation about this issue and avoid clear condemnation of policies that deny women their rights.  Voters have a right to transparency.

Renee LaMark Muir has been straightforward in her support of women’s healthcare and reproductive rights and is not afraid to share this perspective with voters.  I am confident that she will be a strong advocate for women in the Connecticut General Assembly, and she has my vote.
