Senior Voters in Haddam! Please vote at the upcoming referendum on July 23, 2024 for the Rak Proposal/HES improvements.  This is an opportunity make progress on the former Haddam Elementary School site.  The improvements will finally give us a larger, adequate Senior Center. It will have more parking, easy access.  No dangerous crosswalk to use.

Yes, the other wing will have affordable senior apartments. With the increase in home prices, home insurance and taxes, this may be the only way seniors can stay in town.

Don’t forget the town has been awarded a $4.5 million grant. Another bonus, the town can sell the existing Senior Center building easier than the Town Office Building.

As for moving the town offices to HES:  WHY?  People rarely visit the town offices, since so much can be done online or by mail. When was the last time you visited an office? Was there a line?  When was the last time you were at the Department of Motor Vehicles?  You can register your vehicle, renew your driver’s license and cancel your plates all online.  When was the last time you walked into your bank?  Have you gone to a grocery store lately? Or do you just order groceries online and have them delivered?  Have you gone to a big box store lately? Or do you, once again, order online?

Don’t listen to the rumors.  Don’t believe what’s on social media.  Go to the Town of Haddam website, read First Selectman McGarry’s updates, or call the town office, 860-345-8531.
