HVFC Responds to Five Motor Vehicle Accidents

(March 23, 2024) — Haddam Volunteer Fire Company recently responded to five motor vehicle accidents.

                                                                                                                                                                              On March 19, 2024 at 2:25 p.m., crews were dispatched to Route 9 South between exits 19 and 15. A driver had gone off the highway, down an embankment, and crashed into a tree. The driver was transported via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service to Middlesex Hospital.
                                                                                                                                                                                                        On March 21, 2024 at 3:35 p.m., HFVC responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Saybrook Road and Jail Hill Road (photo above). No one was injured. Crews closed one lane of traffic during the incident.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Later, at 6:45 p.m., HVFC responded to Route 9 South on the exit 13 off ramp. The driver self-extricated and was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel. The driver refused additional medical treatment.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  At 10:25 p.m., crews returned to Route 9 South for another accident between exits 19 and 15. A driver had gone off the highway and struck about a hundred feet of guard rail. The driver self-extricated and was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel. The driver refused additional medical treatment. Due to a fluid leak, firefighters applied absorbent material to all three lanes of Route 9 South. Crews closed two lanes of traffic during the incident.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              At 8:05 a.m., on March 22, 2024, crews were dispatched to Saybrook Road near Dunkin’ Donuts in Higganum to assist the Connecticut State Police at the scene of a two-car accident. The drivers of both vehicles were evaluated on scene and refused additional medical treatment.
