Letter to the Editor: Why the No Vote on Rossi?

I don’t understand why the vote on the sale of the Rossi property turned out so negative.

The First Selectman had written several articles in favor of it in the H-K News, which seemed to indicate this was a good thing for the Town of Haddam.

Doesn’t the Town already have too much land off the tax rolls, e.g., The Old Town Hall; The Town Hall Annex; The Jail; The Community Center; HES (Haddam Elementary School); Haddam Meadows; plus all the Land Trust properties and State Forests? I’m sure I’ve missed some.

The question is, why do we want to keep it?  I would like to hear from some who voted against it as to why.  If the Town keeps it, what should it be doing with the property?

Sincerely, R. Thurston Clark, Haddam Neck
