The observance of Memorial Day is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 30, 2022 beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m. Any COVID-19 guidelines that are in place at that time should be followed.
Veterans who wish to march do not need to be Haddam residents, and the wearing of a uniform is not necessary. All nonprofit civic organizations are also welcome to participate. Any veteran interested in being a wreath bearer or carrying a flag should contact a parade committee member.
Haddam’s Memorial Day Parade is a solemn occasion with participation limited to the theme of Memorial Day, community spirit and American history. Floats and unauthorized vehicles are prohibited, as well as the tossing of candy or trinkets. The Parade Committee reserves the right to turn away entries that do not follow these guidelines. We also ask that vendors refrain from selling items during the parade and ceremony.
The parade may be shortened due to inclement weather but the ceremony on the Higganum green will be held rain or shine. All marchers should assemble between 9:00-9:15 a.m. at the corners of Lake Avenue and Route 81. Bus transportation from the Haddam Veterans Museum to Lake Avenue will be available for all marchers.
The parade route will no longer include marching to the Higganum Cemetery but will instead pass directly through the Citizens Bank and Village Market parking lots, then to the green.
