Lisa Berube Named 2019 Woman of Fire

Natick, MA — December 9, 2019 – Essex Savings Bank’s Lisa Berube has received a 2019 Woman of FIRE award by The Commercial Record. Women of FIRE is an annual award that recognizes the key, female players in the local FIRE (Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) sector.  The annual Women of FIRE award celebrates New England’s best and the brightest women in the industry.

Lisa , who is an Assistant Vice President, Chester Branch Manager and Residential Loan Officer at Essex Savings Bank has been involved in banking for over 25 years.  At Essex Savings Bank, Lisa has acted as a mentor to her staff, developing them and promoting them in their own careers.  She has also established a program between her branch and a local high school to mentor a student each semester.  This mentorship program includes working with tellers, interviewing managers of every department including the CEO, and the opportunity for actual banking experience.  Since the launch of this program, several students stated they will be seeking a degree in the finance sector.  In addition to the career she has built for herself, she was also recognized for the great amount of philanthropy of which she is involved.  She serves as a Board Member on Deep River’s Kirtland Commons Senior Housing where she aided in adding 18 units for low income, elderly applicants.  She is also a Member of the Deep River/Chester Lions where she is involved in numerous programs such as the holiday food basket drive and aiding with Senior Dinners to help feed those in need.  Additionally, she is Treasurer to the local Salvation Army, a Member of the organization 100 Women Who Give, and consults for the Chester and East Haddam Economic Development.  In 2017, she was recognized as the Valley Courier’s “Person of the Week” for all of the good works she has accomplished in the community.
