(May 13, 2022)—On the hottest day of the week so far, the Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Lacrosse team was overpowered with a major comeback by the Cromwell High School Varsity team. After HK’s April 23rd 15-9 victory over the Panthers, Cromwell seemed poised for a victory on their home field. And on May 12, 2022, victory they got, with a final score of 12-11. Both Goalies Rhianna “Rhi” Phipps and Gabriela “Gabby” Williams were no match for the Panthers’ varsity line in this contest.
Goals were scored by Captain Grace Cassidy (5) and Audrey Wrinn (2), Ava Ramino (2) and Seanna “SeaSea” Ruimerman (2). Even though ball possession was easily gained by Captain Yumi Imai and Samantha “Sammy” Ruimerman, conversion on the field gave Cromwell the advantage on this day.
However, all was not lost for, as the sun began to set, the Cougars Junior Varsity team took the field and easily took charge with a final victorious score of 12-3 over the Cromwell JV team.
JV goals were scored by Aly Campbell (4), Jaimey DiNapoli (2), Jenna Whitmer (2), Sonya Luneau (1), Brooklyn Bailey (1), Madalynn “Maddy” Catalano (1), Caroline Ignatuk (1).
Fantastic display of teamwork and perseverance, Lady Cougars, keeping those sticks up!
