(August 23, 2022) — Come join the fun! Join an enthusiastic group of volunteers at the beautiful Haddam Meadows State Park for our annual fall invasive plant clean-ups and trash pick-ups. The first clean-up will be in partnership with the Connecticut River Conservancy’s Source to Sea on Saturday, September 24, 2022 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The rain date is Saturday, October 1st. The second fall clean-up will be Saturday, October 22nd. The rain date is Saturday, October 29th.
Participants are asked to meet in the middle picnic area. Adults and youth, under 16 years of age (accompanied by an adult), are encouraged to participate in removing oriental bittersweet and other invasives and/or picking up trash. Please dress for the weather. Wear waterproof boots, bring garden loppers or saw, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, and first aid supplies. Refreshments will be served. Do not bring pets. Volunteers with dump trucks with Haddam stickers are needed.
The event is being planned by CT DEEP Adopt-a-Park Volunteers, Jamie Burgess ,Deborah Cooney, Cherry Czuba, Joanne DelCioppo-McHugh, Richard Gill, Mary Lou Heger, and David Stiles.
