Youth & Family Services of H-K: October 2018 News & Events

Submitted by Laurie E. Ruderfer, Youth & Family Services of H-K.

(Oct. 23, 2018) — Youth & Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth has had a busy couple of months after a quiet period over the summer.  Two new staff members have joined our team and hit the ground running. Our new Executive Director, Laurie Ruderfer, of Madison, has been busy learning about our towns, the agency, activities, our funding, the needs of our community and how Youth & Family Service can meet those needs and serve both Haddam and Killingworth. Our new Prevention Coordinator, Lindsey Lehet is a long-time resident of Haddam. She will facilitate our Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids Coalition and work directly with student groups in the middle and high school and community groups and parents throughout town. Our Clinical Director, Sean Macauley, Director of our Counseling Department and his small staff and interns continue to meets with children, families, couples and senior citizens for individual or group needs.

We are here for you and want to hear from you! Please don’t hesitate to call any one of us if you need assistance or have an idea.  For counseling services and help we participate with several insurance companies and will work with every family regardless of insurance. Call (860) 345-7498, anytime, to speak with any of us.

(Rt. 81). (An event at the Killingworth Pharmacy will be held in the Spring).

What: Bring your unused or expired prescription and over the counter meds to drop off for safe disposal. Veterinary meds are also welcome. Remove labels or cross off your name with black marker, if possible and remember, we DO NOT ACCEPT needles!

Why: This is a great way for you to clean out all those medications that may be accidentally mistaken for other prescriptions, misused, or otherwise contaminate the water supply.

Our Resident Trooper will be there to greet and thank you!
