Why Is the Brainerd Memorial Library Building still Closed?

Submitted by Tom Piezzo.

(Sept. 9, 2020) — We’re glad you asked. The primary reason: We’re in the middle of a long-planned renovation, and supply delivery delays have made the premises unsuitable for patron visits until completion. But once that’s done we have a wonderful new library to unveil.

We can all look forward to, among other things, an easily accessible lower entrance and parking area with enhanced lighting, along with newly designed children’s, meeting and technology spaces.  Meanwhile, please use our digital resources, including Zoom and video programming.

And remember, we offer touch-less pickup service. Simply call (860-345-2204) or email us (library@brainerdlibrary.org) with your requests for up to 10 items per library card. We will get back to you with a time when you can come to the library and get your materials in our vestibule in a safely packaged bag.

The pandemic has forced all of us to change the way we live in ways large and small. We’ll continue to update you on our progress, and look forward to the day when our newly enhanced Library will be open to all for browsing our collection, using our technology, and taking advantage of meetings and programs, in person.
