Water Lantern Event in Deep River Postponed to Sunday, May 21st

Submitted by Terri Garrity

(May 18, 2023) — Due to inclement weather predicted for Saturday May 20, 2023, A Little Compassion, Inc’s. 4th Annual Water Lantern Celebration will now take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Plattwood Park in Deep River.

Hundreds of environmentally safe and hand-decorated  lanterns will create a beautiful display on the waters of Plattwood Pond.  All guests will enjoy food, music and a sensory friendly area for decorating and viewing.

The Water Lantern Celebration is a beloved community event open to all.  The pay-what-you-can fee structure will insure that everyone can attend regardless of their ability to pay.  We welcome neuro-diverse young adults, special education students, and others impacted by disability.   All Connecticut students have free admission!  Visit ALC’s website at www.alittlecompassion.org for details and a student planning sheet.

The event is organized by A Little Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a caring and supportive community for all, as well as improving the lives of young adults with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or related conditions through its employment, social and education/outreach programs.

All are welcome to personalize their own lanterns with a message of hope, unity and togetherness.  The community is invited to relax and enjoy a stunning display of glowing lights at the Water Lantern Celebration. Visit the website at www.alittlecompassion.org or call The Nest Coffee House at 860-322-8090 for more information.
