(April 11, 2023) — A Little Compassion, Inc. (ALC) is excited to announce their 4th Annual Water Lantern Celebration, taking place at Plattwood Park in Deep River on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Water Lantern’s theme is “Lighting the Way for People of All Abilities,” celebrating people who experience neurodiversity as well as physical impairments.www.alittlecompassion.org or call The Nest Coffee House at 860-322-8090 for more information.
Water Lantern is a beloved community event for all ages. Each participant receives a lantern and all supplies to decorate with their own message of hope, unity and togetherness. When released onto the pond at dusk, the glowing lanterns create a stunning display of light and color. There will also be food, fun and lots of great vibes. Water Lantern Celebration is open to all and ALC is excited to offer free admission to the community’s special education students, neuro-diverse young adults, and others impacted by disability. A pay-what-you-can fee structure and support from local donors will ensure that all can attend regardless of ability to pay. It is a family-friendly and accessible event with food, music, and more to enjoy throughout the evening. The event is organized by A Little Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a caring and supportive community for all as well as improving the lives of young adults with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or related conditions through its employment, social, and education/outreach programs. ALC’s flagship program, The Nest Coffee House, serves coffee and treats along with compassion and opportunity. The Nest also provides employment opportunities and social gatherings for young adults with disabilities, including arts and crafts, trivia, anime, hikes, gaming and more. The Nest is a safe and inclusive space for all to enjoy. Visit our website at
