Third Annual Compassion Walk to be Held on October 26th

Submitted by Terri Garrity

(September 15, 2024) — A Little Compassion Inc. is thrilled to announce that this year’s Third Annual Compassion Walk will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the picturesque Hammonasset Beach State Park. Starting at 1:00 p.m., this event will be a heartwarming celebration of inclusion, acceptance and opportunity for all, set against the beautiful backdrop of the beach in autumn.

At this family-friendly event, participants can enjoy delicious Nest treats and a variety of engaging activities, including face painting and “Compassion Flyers,” a kite-flying event perfect for the beach setting. There’s even a sensory relaxation station planned for those needing a break from the activities.  The first 150 registrants will receive swag bags, and there will be drawings for exciting prizes!

The Compassion Walk, organized by A Little Compassion, aims to build a supportive and caring community for all and particularly for young adults with autism, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or other neurodiversities.

Funds raised from the Compassion Walk will support ALC’s programs that provide young adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop skills, gain understanding, and build community connections.  At ALC’s flagship program, the Nest Coffee House, job trainees gain valuable work experience while serving up delicious coffee and treats. With the recent addition of a new social Gatherings space, ALC continues to create safe environments for young adults to find friendship and community. All programs are supported by specially trained volunteers and job coaches.

Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for children, with an Early Bird discount of $20 for adults and $15 for children available until September 26, 2024. To ensure inclusivity, neurodiverse individuals under 18 can participate free. Walkers can choose from routes ranging from 0.5 to 3.0 miles to suit their endurance and interest levels.

For those who cannot attend in person, a virtual participation option is available, allowing everyone to join the cause from anywhere at their convenience.

Join us at the beach for a walk that champions kindness, compassion, and inclusion. Visit www.alittlecompassion.org to register and find more information.
