The Crafting Connection, September 11, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. In this month’s Crafting Connection, we are going abstract with squeegee painting! Using drops of acrylic paint and a squeegee, we will create a masterpiece. Squeegee Painting is a great form of “process art” – it’s all about the creation of the painting and experimentation. Culinary Book Club, September 13, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. We are cooking up a mystery this month in the Culinary Book Club! Using an unexpected ingredient, cook us a dish and see if the members of the group can guess what the mystery ingredient is. Did you use sweet potato to make a cake? Ice cream to make bread? Did you sneak a vegetable into a dish? Come surprise us! A requirement of the club is to bring a dish. We will meet in the History Room of the Library. Please register here or call 860-345-2204. The World of the Harmonica, September 18, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The harmonica is a worldwide instrument representing many cultures. One reason could be its size. It fits into your pocket. What intrigues the music community is the harmonica’s ability to encompass all genres of musical style. This program is an effort to expand awareness. Using Storytelling, History, and playing the instrument in many styles, Bob Hennessy tells the story and plays the music that will open your ears and minds. Taste of Haddam, September 23, 2023 Brainerd Memorial Library will reprise the ever-popular fundraiser, “A Taste of Haddam and Beyond,” on September 23, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the library.
Join us for an evening of fabulous food and drink, provided and served by area vendors. The adults-only event will also feature a raffle and silent auction of wonderful and eclectic items and experiences.
Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased online at brainerdlibrary.org or at the library. All proceeds will be used for adult and children’s programs.
