Second Annual Fall Festival at Brainerd Library October 15th

Submitted by Robbie Marshall, Assistant Director, Brainerd Memorial Library

(September 8, 2022) —Brainerd Memorial Library Staff and Friends are excitedly preparing for our October Fall Festival, which takes place on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..  This year we are featuring live music and line dancing!  The music will be provided by the Swallowtails [formerly Back Swamp] with a repertoire of Country, Folk, and Blue Grass.  “Tuba Kelly,” our multi-talented Children’s & Teen Librarian, will play children’s favorites on various instruments. And the Valley Shore Line Dancers will present some line dancing fun for everyone.

The Friends will run their popular Books and Plants sales, offering attendees the opportunity to stock up on their reading supply for the cooler weather and replenish and expand some of their gardens that were challenged over the summer. As always, there will be some tasty baked goods for sale, with emphasis on seasonal treats.

The Jumping Cow ice cream truck will be back with fall flavors!  We’re looking forward to trying apple and pumpkin sundaes!

Besides the pumpkin decorating for children, we will be creating Scary Gardens with lots of spooky materials, and other children’s and adult crafts.

Karen, our “wreathmaster,” will create a beautiful fall wreath to raffle and Rick Johnson of “Papa Elf Woodcarvings” will be on hand to demonstrate his wonderful carving skills.

This family-oriented community event has something for everyone.  So please plan to stop by (920 Saybrook Road, Haddam), have some free cider, browse, and perhaps kick up your heels!
