(May 10, 2023) — Sacred Heart on the Lake Retreat Center in Higganum announces an event called “Care for Our Common Home: A Celebration of God’s Gift of Nature” to be held on Saturday May 20, 2023, from Noon to 3:00 p.m. Join us for a wonderful day of nature-appreciation and fun.
12:00- Bring Your Own Picnic Lunch
1:00- Opening Prayer Experience based on Laudato Si’
1:10- 2:45- Activities: Audubon Society Bird Walks (bring binoculars, if possible); Yard Games; Small Craft Boating; Quiet Walks
2:45- 3:00- Closing Prayer Experience based on Laudato Si’
Laudato Si’ is an encyclical of Pope Francis published in May, 2015. It focuses on care for the natural environment and all people, as well as broader questions of the relationship among God, humans and the earth. Laudato Si’ means “praise be to you,” which is the first line of a canticle by St. Francis that praises God with all of His creation.
