(May 24, 2023) — Elm Tree Communities has officially opened Blueway Commons, a 56-unit multifamily community in Haddam. The Blueway Commons ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on May 9, 2023, with local and state officials speaking at the ceremony.
Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce CEO Johanna Bond opened the event with her remarks, followed by Haddam First Selectman Robert McGarry (photo above). Also speaking at the event were State Senator Norm Needleman and Senator Richard Blumenthal’s Chief of Staff, Richard Kehoe.
The Blueway Commons clubhouse was named after former New York Yankees catcher John C. Ellis during the ceremony. Ellis and his wife Jane have raised millions of dollars for patients impacted by cancer. Ellis, an avid fisherman, loved to fish the Connecticut River. The Connecticut River is the only national blue way river in the United States; Blueway Commons takes its name from the federal designation.
Blueway Commons offers six floor plans to cater to an array of lifestyles from one and two-bedroom options ranging from 825 to 11150 square feet. The apartments offer modern kitchens, stainless steel appliances, modern finishes, and innovative technology throughout the complex. Additional features include in-unit washers and dryers, spacious bathrooms, energy-efficient appliances, and a private balcony in each unit.
Blueway Commons property’s community amenities include:
A 2,500-square-foot clubhouse with a fireplace and lounge area
Secured package system for resident packages
A state-of-the-art fitness center
An outdoor lounge area with grills and fire pits.
Pet-friendly and features an outdoor pet exercise area.
“We are so happy to be a part of the Haddam Community with our first residential project, Blueway Commons,” said Jeff Hartmann, the founder of Elm Tree Communities. “Blueway Commons provides a beautiful apartment home for young professionals, families, and empty nesters.”
Hartmann tells HK-Now/HK News that forty-seven units have been rented to date, and a second phase is planned for an additional thirty-two apartments. The marketing of Blueway Commons has been aimed at the Route 9 corridor from Hartford to Old Saybrook and ads have been placed on Zillow, Instagram and Apartments.com, among other sites.
