(October 29, 2024) — The following programs and events will take place at The Buttonwood Tree, 605 Main Street in Middletown during the month of November, 2024.

Friday, November 1, 2024 8:00 p.m.JS&P, with Harrison Goodell. Jake Swamp & the Pine songs range from powerful acoustic tunes, drawing on diverse influences from the Americana, folk, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, and jam band traditions. Hailing from seacoast New Hampshire, singer-songwriter Harrison Goodell was raised on American staples like Tom Petty, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel who serve as inspiration to his own sound. $15. Saturday, November 2, 2024 8:00 p.m.Karen Frisk + Trio. Karen Frisk is a jazz vocalist from Cromwell who has performed in several areas of the country with local and world-renowned jazz artists. On this evening, she will be joined by Kent Hewitt on piano, and Joe Fitzgerald on bass. All proceeds from this show will go to The Buttonwood Tree. $15. Friday, November 8, 2024 8:00 p.m. – Rupert Wates, with Anna May. Rupert Wates was born in London. He signed an exclusive publishing deal with Eaton Music in the late 1990’s and has been a full-time songwriter ever since. He moved to the USA in fall 2006. Since 2007 he has won over 50 songwriting awards. Originally from Connecticut, before becoming a western transplant, Anna May is a singular artist whose songs bear a “placelessness” that lends to their timeless nature. $20. Saturday, November 9, 2024  7:00 p.m.  – Vicki Gagliardi and Ken McManus. Vicki Gagliardi is a contemporary style singer-songwriter from Southington. Her sound is influenced by classic artists including The Carpenters, Carole King, Patsy Cline, Adele. Ken McManus’s music combines elements of soul, folk, jazz and rock music. His core influences include Al Green, Sly and The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell and Clearance Clearwater Revival, amongst others. $15. Friday, November 15, 2024 7:30 p.m.Dan & Faith, Dream-Folk Duo. Dan Senie was raised in New York City and Western Massachusetts. Faith Senie was raised in Cooperstown, New York, where she started singing and playing at a young age. The two met at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute while students. Saturday, November 16, 2024 7:00 p.m. – JazzRules Quintet. A spinoff of Art Blakey tribute project The Secondary Messengers, comprised of Don Anderson on horns, Bill Matthews on drums, Ken Forfia on piano, Mark Dunlop on bass, and Mark Weissman on sax. Friday, November 22, 2024 8:00 p.m. – Waberi Jordan and Friends. Waberi Jordan is a vocalist and songwriter whose signature is rooted in the Leimert Park Jazz Community of Los Angeles. Raised on a steady diet of straight-ahead jazz, at a time when R&B dominated the airwaves, Waberi’s sound bridges two pivotal eras of artistic expression. $20. Friday, November 29, 2024 7:30 p.m. – Tellabration! Hosted this evening by John Melmed and Wendy Marans, Tellabration! is an international celebration of story. In collaboration with the Connecticut Storytelling Center, each Tellabration! can be customized to appeal to an organization’s specific mission and audience. $10. Saturday, November 30, 2024 7:00 p.m. – Ashley Hamel, featuring Neon Amor, Melanie Champagne. Ashley Hamel is an Indonesian-American singer songwriter and actor. Her music combines powerful pop vocals with authentic songwriting and an infectious stage presence. She is now based in Jakarta, Indonesia, working on her next album and working as a professional musician and musical theater actor. $15.
