Outdoor Track 2022: HKHS Victorious over Coginchaug & Old Lyme

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls track teams opened their seasons as they traveled to Durham to compete in a tri-meet against Coginchaug and Old Lyme.  Both the boys and girls team came away with two victories on the day, as the boys defeated Old Lyme by a score of 116-38 and Coginchaug by a score of 89-60 to start their dual meet season 2-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Caleb Kent 110 hurdles (19.1), Aidan Law 100 (11.2) long jump (21’2″) and high jump (5’6″), Caleb Freeman 1600 (4:53) and 3200 (10:39), Alex Lara 800 (2:07), Orion Inkel triple jump (40’7″) and Jared Frith pole vault (10’6″).

The H-K Girls team also went 2-0 on the day to begin their dual meet season as they defeated Old Lyme by a score of 129-19 and beat Coginchaug 101-49. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Leah Sosnowski won the 100 hurdles (17.9) and the 300 hurdles (51.1), Mariella Fulcher 200 (27.4), Izzy Berardino 1600 (5:55) and 3200 (13:22), Jess Timothy long jump (15’2″), triple jump (31’2″), and high jump (4’6″), Scarlett Strom discus (74’2″) and javelin (82’7″). The girls 4×800 and 4×400 relay teams were also victorious on the afternoon to contribute valuable team points.
 

The track teams will next be in action on Tuesday April 26, 2022, as they travel to Clinton to compete in a tri-meet against Morgan and North Branford.
